Well, if Bill Cosby is the King of Clean, then Joy must be the Queen of Clean! That’s right. Joy is hilarious—one of the funniest women on the comedy circuit today. Her own personal motto is, “I can be funny without cursing or being vulgar.” Her show is rated “F” for Family Fun. Now that’s a twist—a comedy act the whole family can enjoy—young and old—black, white or Hispanic. Joy derives most of her material from everyday life. She finds humor from dialogue clichés to people walking down the street, to the good ol’ folks in the church. Joy is just real!!

Ironically, Joy never entertained the thought of a career in
comedy until some co-workers said you ought to try stand up
because you can get paid for amateur night. After toying around
with the idea for a couple of years, she used members of her
church as guinea pigs. After hearing her act, many of them agreed
that she should perform on stage for the mainstream public. So
trying to make an extra buck, she left a message on the voice mail
at the StarDome Comedy Club in Birmingham, Alabama. A few
weeks later, they returned her phone call. Wanting to share the
good news with friends, she sent out an e-mail entitled “I got the
call.” Being the witty person she is, she added the disclaimer “it
wasn’t from Jesus.”

Joy’s stage name came one morning during her quiet time after
being frustrated by personal struggles. She recalled the scriptures “the Joy of
the Lord is your strength” and “a merry heart doeth good like a medicine.” She
always enjoyed making people laugh in everyday conversation so she thought
why not get paid for it! In the beginning, friends asked "do you have any
material?" She stated "my whole life is a comedy show!"

The Alabama native prides herself on being funny without being raunchy. She has served
as emcee at The Stardome Comedy Club on several occasions. JOY has won "Favorite
Comedian" by the Dirty 30 Awards!!! You go girl! She was also a finalist for the "Stars
That Fell on Alabama" Competition. She was the founder and host of Clean Comedy
Nite at Coffee On Valley in Birmingham, Alabama and Christian Comedy Nite @ The
Coffee House of Trussville. JOY has also performed at The Stardome Comedy Club,
The Comedy Factory, Ced Delany’s Comedy Nite at Workplay, The Punchline in Atlanta,
Georgia, Trendz Bar, The Comedy Catch in Chattanooga, Tennessee and Grill in
Montgomery, Alabama and a variety of other church and private events. JOY is looking
forward to taking her show on the road and spreading Joy in other venues across the
country. She also wants to spread Joy for humanitarian and non-profit agencies like The
United Negro College Fund, women’s shelters and churches worldwide. Some of her
favorite pioneers in the business are: Jonathan Slocumb, Sinbad, Adele Givens, Jay
Leno, Jeff Foxworthy, DL Hughley, Jerry Seinfeld, Bernie Mac, Akintunde and Bruce
Bruce.
And remember, in all things have JOY!

in the beginning...God said let there be JOY!!!
and it was so
